Using Mineral Foundation Wet or Dry

Many people would really like to use mineral foundation. But they do not want to lose the benefits of the deep coverage of their current liquid foundation. They may not realize that you can use mineral foundation can be used wet or dry. Both methods can yield many of the same positive results. You should understand the methods of using mineral foundation wet and dry. This will help you get the best results for any skin condition on any day.

You will always use the horsehair brush that came with the foundation to apply the foundation. You will always use the brush whether you are applying foundation wet or dry. Be careful to keep the brush clean so that you can reuse it each day.

Dry mineral foundation provides light coverage. This does not mean that blemishes or irregularities will show through. It just means that foundation will feel light on the surface of your face. Of course you still will be able to layer on mineral powder foundation to cover lines and wrinkles.

Here are some positive effects of using mineral foundation as dry powder:

* It hides creases and wrinkles by reflecting light. This minimizes evidence of aging. The mica flakes deflect light a bit more effectively when they are dry.

* It feels as if you have no makeup on. The powder will create a smooth, natural surface.

* You can safely sleep in dry mineral foundation. Of course it is always better to remove makeup. Dry mineral foundation will not block your pores and cause the aging that liquid foundations can.

Applying mineral foundation involves swirling the horsehair brush in the powder. Tap the excess off the brush. Buff the powder against your face in a circular motion. You can apply as many layers as you like. The end result will be light, bright and natural. You can apply more cosmetics like blush or bronzer over the mineral foundation.

Some people’s preference is to use mineral foundation wet. They feel that this provides more thorough coverage. Of course, this is largely a personal preference since mineral foundation covers evenly both ways. Mineral foundation, when used wet, can give you a more “made up” look that people find glamorous. Of course this look may be less natural, but people think it looks more professional. It also provides a great palate for additional makeup. Apply mineral foundation wet by first dipping the brush in dry mineral powder. Tap it into your palm or the lid of the mineral foundation. Do not get the entire mineral foundation wet at once. Swirl the foundation around with the damp brush. This will let the liquid mineral foundation stick to the brush. Smooth it on with your fingers if you like.

You can of course wear mineral foundation wet and dry. You will love the natural look when you wear your mineral foundation.
