Female Body Piercing Today
Depending on your age bracket, you may view female body piercing differently than the next person. Some people will see someone with a pierced nose or lip and frown. They have no desire to even speak to that person. Others, will look at that same person and see them as being a creative soul who wants to express herself. My grandfather insists that anyone who has any part of their body pierced, other than their ears, is Satanic.
No matter how you view female body piercing, history reveals that it is a practice that has been around for thousands of years. In fact, there is quite a bit of evidence in the Bible that female body piercing was acceptable and practiced even in those days. Mummies have been unearthed with body jewelry in various parts of their bodies.
No one quite knows if people who engaged in female body piercing thousands of years ago viewed it as religious, artistic or simply some form of social status. Nowadays, women find tons of reasons for choosing to pierce parts of their body. Of course, the most popular body part that gets pierced is the earlobes. In other countries, such as India, women find it commonplace to have their noses pierced.
Years and years ago, if you wanted your ears pierced, you went to your family doctor. I’m not even sure that my family doctor would agree to pierce my ears if I asked her to. Nowadays, people will visit a jewelry store or a tattoo and piercing parlor to get their ears or other body piercing done safely. I’ve known quite a few people who have decided that they are capable of doing their own female body piercing and it has usually resulted in some sort of infection or mistake.
The best way to go about getting your artistic side to surface is to allow someone to do the piercing for you. A local jewelry store at your mall probably has individuals who have had practice and training in how to perform female body piercing. A tattoo parlor may look intimidating, but they most likely have quite a bit of experience in piercings as well. You simply want to find a place that will use a piercing gun or show you a brand new and clean needle to perform your body piercing.
If you truly have not a clue as to where to go in order to get your body piercing done safely, ask around. If a store has a good reputation, it is probably a great idea to pay them a visit. Make sure that the person who is piercing your ears or other chosen body part, explains all the factors of how to allow for healing and cleaning. Knowing how to take care of your new piercing is of vital importance. Afterall, you’re putting a new hole into your body. That isn’t a decision that should be taken lightly.
